Author Guidelines

Authors who wish to submit manuscripts to Jurnal Zarah must ensure that the manuscript has not been previously published and is not under review in another journal. The manuscript must be original, relevant to the journal’s focus and scope, and written in accordance with the template and publication ethics of Jurnal Zarah.

1. Scope of Manuscript

Jurnal Zarah accepts scientific articles related to:

  • Fundamental chemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, and inorganic chemistry;

  • Chemistry education and innovation in chemistry learning;

  • Chemistry learning based on local wisdom and maritime contexts;

  • Green chemistry and education for sustainability;

  • Chemical literacy and studies addressing chemical misconceptions;

  • Innovation in chemistry practicum;

  • Development of teaching materials, learning media, and chemistry learning assessments;

  • Interdisciplinary studies of chemistry within social, cultural, and sustainable environmental contexts.

2. Manuscript Preparation

Before submission, authors must prepare the manuscript using the official Jurnal Zarah Article Template. The manuscript should generally contain the following components:

  1. Title

  2. Author names and affiliations

  3. Abstract

  4. Keywords

  5. Introduction

  6. Research Methods

  7. Results and Discussion

  8. Conclusion

  9. Acknowledgment, if any

  10. References

The manuscript must be written clearly, systematically, and academically. Tables, figures, graphs, and formulas must be numbered and referred to in the text. All illustrations must be readable and relevant to the discussion.

3. Citation and References

All citations and references must follow the APA 7th Edition style. Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote to ensure consistency and accuracy.

References should primarily come from credible academic sources such as journal articles, books, proceedings, and official documents. Authors are encouraged to use recent references relevant to the topic of the manuscript.

4. Required Submission Documents

Authors are required to prepare the following documents before submitting a manuscript:

  1. Manuscript / Article File using the Jurnal Zarah template;

  2. Cover Letter addressed to the Editor of Jurnal Zarah;

  3. Commitment Letter of Publication stating that the manuscript is original, not under review elsewhere, and that all authors agree to the submission;

  4. Similarity Check Result, if required by the editorial team;

  5. Supplementary files, if any, such as research instruments, data tables, or additional figures.

5. Publication Ethics

Authors must comply with the principles of publication ethics. Plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate publication, inappropriate authorship, and unethical research practices are strictly prohibited.

All authors listed in the manuscript must have made a meaningful contribution to the research and manuscript preparation. Any conflict of interest must be clearly disclosed.

6. Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence

Generative Artificial Intelligence tools may only be used to support language editing, grammar improvement, readability enhancement, or limited technical assistance. Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, validity, and integrity of the manuscript.

AI tools must not be listed as authors. Any substantial use of AI tools in manuscript preparation must be disclosed transparently when required by the editorial team.

7. Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted through the Jurnal Zarah online submission system. Authors must register or log in to the journal website, complete the submission metadata, upload the required files, and follow all stages of the submission process.

Incomplete submissions or manuscripts that do not follow the journal template and guidelines may be returned to the authors for revision before entering the review process.

8. Copyright and License

Articles published in Jurnal Zarah are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. Authors retain the copyright of their work and grant the journal the right of first publication.

By submitting a manuscript, authors agree to follow all editorial policies, publication ethics, and licensing terms of Jurnal Zarah.

Submission Preparation Checklist

Authors are required to confirm that the submission complies with all of the following items before proceeding:

  1. The manuscript is original, has not been previously published, and is not currently under review by another journal.

  2. The manuscript has been prepared using the official Jurnal Zarah Article Template.

  3. The manuscript is relevant to the focus and scope of Jurnal Zarah.

  4. The manuscript follows the required structure, including title, author identity, abstract, keywords, introduction, method, results and discussion, conclusion, and references.

  5. All citations and references have been written according to the APA 7th Edition style.

  6. All tables, figures, graphs, and other supporting materials are clear, readable, properly numbered, and referred to in the manuscript.

  7. The manuscript has been checked for grammar, spelling, formatting, and completeness before submission.

  8. The author has prepared the required submission documents, including the manuscript file, cover letter, and commitment letter of publication.

  9. The author agrees to follow the publication ethics, peer-review process, copyright policy, and license policy of Jurnal Zarah.

  10. The author is willing and able to pay the publication fee of IDR 500,000 if the manuscript is accepted for publication.

  11. All authors listed in the manuscript have approved the submission and agree with the final version of the manuscript.

  12. The author understands that incomplete submissions or manuscripts that do not follow the journal guidelines may be returned for revision before entering the review process.

The names, email addresses, affiliations, and other personal information entered in the Jurnal Zarah website will be used exclusively for the purposes of journal management, manuscript submission, editorial communication, peer review, publication, indexing, and related academic services.

Jurnal Zarah is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of all users, including authors, reviewers, editors, and readers. Personal data will not be used for commercial purposes and will not be shared with third parties outside the journal’s editorial and publishing process, except when required by law or for legitimate scholarly publishing purposes.

The personal information collected through this journal system may include user names, email addresses, institutional affiliations, contact information, manuscript metadata, review records, and publication-related information. This data is used to support communication, editorial decision-making, publication workflow, and journal administration.

All users are responsible for ensuring that the personal information they provide is accurate and up to date. Users may contact the editorial office if they wish to correct, update, or request clarification regarding the use of their personal data.

By registering, submitting a manuscript, or participating in the editorial and review process of Jurnal Zarah, users acknowledge and agree that their personal data will be processed in accordance with this privacy statement and the journal’s publishing policies.
