Gen AI Policy

1. Introduction

This policy regulates the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) in the preparation and submission of manuscripts to JMPS. It aims to ensure academic integrity, transparency, and accountability in scholarly publishing.

2. Scope and Definition

Generative AI refers to artificial intelligence systems capable of producing text, images, data, or other content automatically (e.g., large language models and AI-based writing tools).

3. General Principles

  • Gen AI may be used only as a supporting tool, not as a substitute for the author’s intellectual contribution.

  • Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their work.

  • The use of AI must be transparent and properly disclosed.

4. Acceptable Use

Authors may use Gen AI for:

  • Language editing (grammar, clarity, readability)

  • Limited paraphrasing without altering scientific meaning

  • Idea exploration (brainstorming)

  • Non-critical technical assistance (e.g., formatting or coding support)

5. Prohibited Use

Authors are not permitted to:

  • Generate entire manuscripts using AI without substantial human contribution

  • Fabricate, falsify, or manipulate data using AI

  • Use AI without proper disclosure

  • List AI tools as authors or co-authors

6. Disclosure Requirement

Any use of Gen AI must be clearly stated in the manuscript (e.g., in the Acknowledgment section or a dedicated statement).

Example:
“The authors used AI-based tools for language editing purposes. All interpretations and conclusions remain the responsibility of the authors.”

7. Author Responsibility

Authors must:

  • Verify all AI-assisted outputs

  • Ensure proper citation and data validity

  • Prevent plagiarism and ethical violations

8. Editorial and Review Policy

Editors and reviewers may evaluate the ethical use of AI in submitted manuscripts. JMPS reserves the right to request clarification or reject submissions that violate this policy.

9. Compliance and Sanctions

JMPS may use AI detection and plagiarism tools. Violations may result in:

  • Manuscript rejection

  • Article retraction

  • Temporary submission restrictions

10. Final Statement

JMPS encourages the responsible and ethical use of Gen AI to support high-quality academic publishing while maintaining scholarly integrity.
