PIBLICATION ETHICS

Jurnal Selat is a journal established by Law Studies Program, Faculty of Social and Political Science Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji. Journal Selat was first published in 2013 with ISSN 2354-8649 and now Jurnal Selat has e-ISSSN 2354-8649. Jurnal Selat is Biannual, Published Twice a Year, which is in May and October. In this section, we clarify publication ethic for all parties who involved in process publishing of the article on Jurnal Selat, including The Author, Editor in Chief, Board of Editorial, Editorial Assistant. This Publication ethic is based on the Author’s Guidelines on Jurnal Selat.

Ethics Code for Publication

The publication of every article in a peer-reviewed Journal is a reference for the development of the network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the Author’s work and the institutions that support them. Articles on the Journal including research result, book review, reviews and studies are a form of  Scientific method development. It is therefore too important to agree on standards of expected ethical behaviour for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the Author, Editor in Chief, Board of Editorial,  Editorial Assistant, and Society. Law Studies Program  Faculty of Social and Political Science Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji as publisher take its duties in of all stages publishing and we recognize our responsibility toward Publishing Code of ethic.

Publication Decision

Editor Jurnal Selat is responsible for deciding which of the article submitted to the Journal should be published after having thorough the review process by the reviewer. About this Matter, The Author and the reader should respect the Editorial Board’s decision in term of which article would be published. Editor’s Decision must be based on the Editorial board’s consideration also determined whether or not the requirement regarding copyright and plagiarism are met.

Fair Play

An editor at any time evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality

The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript, to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher. Any manuscript received for review and must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Duties of Reviewers

Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author.

Standard of Objectivity

Author should not express personal criticism relate to the result of the review. Reviewer should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Any Author must include the relevant citation source in the article he wrote. Reviewer can provide sources of citation to published work that has not been cited by the author. Review also can inform the editor when there is similarity or overlap in substance in the manuscript being reviewed.

Duties Authors

Reporting standard. Original Research should present an accurate report of the work carried out as well as a description of the purpose of its meaning. Article should contain sufficient detail and references to allow others to verify the data. Fraudulent or intentionally inaccurate report constitute unethical behaviour and unacceptable.

Originality and Plagiarism

The Authors should ensure and make plagiarism free statement. An Authors is not permitted to publish the same manuscript in more than one journal or any other publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently is constituted as violating code ethic of publication and unacceptable.

Fundamental errors in Published Works

When the author finds a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to resubmit or correct the manuscript.
