Abstract

Utilization of open access fisheries resources makes fishermen have the same rights in utilizing existing resources. The strategic position of the waters with the potential of fishery resources owned by Dumai City encourages the arrival of outside fishermen to carry out fishing activities in this area. Utilization that is not monitored properly is not impossible, there will be high pressure on fishery resources in Dumai City, both from local fishermen and outside fishermen (andon) using fishing gear that is not environmentally friendly. The purpose of this socialization activity is to change the knowledge, skills and behavior of the target group. Community Service Activities regarding education on Responsible Fisheries Management, it can be concluded that the activity went well, with enthusiasm and participation from the participants. The implementation of this training is carried out with 1 approach concept, namely theory class. The material given in the theory class includes education on the types of sharks that are protected, education on handling sharks that are accidentally caught (by-catch) with fishing rods and nets, as well as education on capture fisheries conditions in Dumai City and friendly fishing. environment. The results of the monitoring and evaluation state that fishermen get many benefits from using environmentally friendly fishing gear and provide insight to other fishermen about the implementation of responsible fishing. However, there are also some fishermen who still do not understand the meaning of fishing responsibilty.
