Abstract

Community service has been carried out on Empowering Coastal Community Groups through Training in the Application of Community-Based Mangrove Ecotourism in Kampung Dompak Lama, Tanjungpinang City. This activity aims to train local communities who are coastal communities to be able to independently implement community-based mangrove ecotourism activities, so that the existence of mangrove ecosystems around the Dompak estuary can be initiated into mangrove ecotourism as an effort to preserve the mangrove ecosystem in the area. The methods used consisted of; lecture and learning techniques, group discussions and practice and simulation. The results of the implementation can be explained that the level of knowledge of local communities about the basic requirements of community-based mangrove ecotourism development has increased. Likewise, the level of community awareness and ability to initiate community-based mangrove ecotourism activities in Kampong Dompak Lama, which is predominantly a Malay coastal community, has developed quite well. This can be seen from the sustainability of the program that is still running after the activity is completed.
